I have an announcement. I have moved from Charlottesville to Richmond. That’s right. I have moved! Last month I bought a house in Richmond, where I grew up. This transition has been a memory-jogger for sure. Just as one for instance, I had forgotten what it is like to hear chimes in the evening—chimes reminding the community (including me, now that I am part of that community) that as the poet Robert Browning wrote, “God’s in his heaven and all’s right with the world.” It is, of course. How could I have ever forgotten that essential truth?
That’s enough about me, though. The reason I tell you this, is that if you are planning to marry somewhere West of Charlottesville (say, Early Mountain Vineyard), I am not your officiant. Yes, I would love to officiate at your wedding, but Early Mountain is a good 1 ½ hour commute from Richmond, and that’s just too far—we’re talking four 1 ½ hour commutes in two days, assuming you have a rehearsal the day before!
However, I AM still very much available to officiate at weddings in Charlottesville proper, and areas east of Charlottesville, say, Kings Family and Keswick Vineyards. And, of course, I am available for weddings in Richmond, and points close by. As before, if your plan is to elope (just you, the love of your life, and perhaps a couple of close friends and family members) then I am happy to marry you in my backyard. That yard has ample space. It is well-maintained, and is obscured from would-be voyeurs by a stockade fence. Not that my new neighbors are voyeurs, but you get my drift. In fact, I am blessed with many friendly neighbors in this new but familiar space where I am beginning to put down new roots.
And, my home has a side benefit. It is a block away from Carytown. Carytown is a happenin’ place for sure. Lots of restaurants if you want to dine out after your elopement. I have included a pic of Carytown. Let your imagination do the rest.
Enjoy the pics!
Happy wedding planning!
