Dear Engaged Couples,
It’s been a long while. I’ve just been too busy to sit down and blog, and I have been feeling guilty about that. The good news is– in my blogger absence, the world has continued to spin on its axis, and the seasons are all moving along according to plan, albeit too quickly for my preference. Nevertheless, please accept my apologies. Today, though, now that I am back, I want to revisit an old topic—Early Mountain Vineyard—because it is WORTH spending some more time writing about this extraordinary venue.
At a wedding at which I officiated this past weekend, I touched base with some of the staff at Early Mountain. They proudly tell me that Early Mountain is being considered for a national award—as one of USA Today’s recognized top ten tasting rooms—again, nationally, as IN THIS COUNTRY!
It had been awhile since I had visited Early Mountain. I believe the last wedding I officiated at there was in December. That means that this past weekend I was able to see the venue, with more-or-less fresh eyes. It actually IS beautiful, and well-maintained—clean floors, clean, well-stocked bathrooms. More importantly, though, it boasts a staff that is courteous, and on task—that applies to both the tasting room and the wedding facility. This last factor may not seem THAT critical, except that it is, if you want your wedding to go off without a hitch. Actually, it is THE most important criteria for choosing a venue. There are just too many wedding venues that have limited or poorly trained staff—limited probably because venues understandably want to keep expenses down, and poorly trained, because in the wedding-venue-industry, wedding coordinators often burn out. Which means that a wedding sometimes becomes something akin to a barn-raising—with family members and guests (and yours truly) jumping in at the 9th hour to, for example, unfolded and set up chairs for the service.
Early Mountain has staff ready and willing to help, and with a smile! When I arrived for Saturday’s wedding an hour early, the chairs were already in place outside (all facing a magnificent farm landscape). Inside, the tables for the wedding reception were all dressed; the dj was at the ready; and the staff was on hand to take care of every little thing.
