Dear Engaged Couples—
It seems I spend most of my blogging time, suggesting to you good wedding venues. I guess that is because I see so many. Also, I hope you realize that I give you the true skinny. I have nothing to gain by “selling” you a wedding venue. So, I don’t review venues I don’t care for. And, if I review a wedding venue that is basically wonderful, but has some issues, I will share those issues with you.
That said, my goodness, do I have a wedding venue option for you, if you are planning a small affair. Veritas Vineyard is already a well-established site for weddings in Nelson County—that is, just a hop, skip and jump from Charlottesville. Brides and grooms choose Veritas for a host of good reasons; the staff are collegial and on-task, the wine is very good, the site is well-maintained, and my goodness, the views! We are talking lovely mountain-scapes in all directions. Venues don’t get any better!
But Veritas Vineyard’s “plant” for lack of a better term, is large and sprawling. If you are planning a small wedding then your guests are likely to feel like a handful of marbles rolling around in a (wine) barrel!
So Veritas has created another option. It’s the Veritas Farmhouse, a lovely, historic property (built in 1836) which is on Veritas land, and has been updated with all the modern amenities—running water INSIDE, heat and AC, and a fully equipped/all appliance kitchen. The property has six bedrooms/suites, tastefully decorated. Meals are provided, if you don’t want to cook, and although I didn’t eat there, I understand that the food is over-the-top in the delicious category.
I worked with Chloe, who I understand, manages the property and serves as wedding coordinator. I arrived an hour before the wedding. I saw her buzzing about, making sure the dining room was ready for the evening meal for 16 (wedding guests and the couple), putting bouquets in water, and lining up chairs for the marriage service. And although she didn’t whistle while she worked, it was obvious that she enjoyed what she was doing. Everything went off like clockwork.
Trust me on this. If you are planning an intimate wedding, you would be hard pressed to find a better wedding venue. Enjoy the pics.
Happy wedding planning.
