Happy Thanksgiving!
Dear MARRIED COUPLE—I know this blog is usually for engaged couples, but today I am stepping out of my role as advisor, jounalist, or whatever it is that I am trying to be when I write my blog. Today I want to address, not ENGAGED couples, but all the couples that I have married in the three years I have had my “business” or ministry, if you will. This Thanksgiving I am thankful for YOU—for trusting me to perform your wedding service, for allowing me to be part of your special day, for staying in contact with me after the fact, in some cases, sharing with me pics of your on-going life together—your new pets, your vacations, your babies!
If this is your first Thanksgiving as a married couple, I imagine that you are fretting over recipes and wanting to use the new place settings you received as wedding gifts. Maybe you are worried that the in-laws won’t be able to get along if they have been invited to your home; or perhaps you fear you have unintentionally hurt your family’s feelings: “Sorry Mom and Dad, we will be spending Thanksgiving with Chris’ family this holiday.” Such is married life. Always the uncertainties; always the give and take.
My wish for you though, is that you are able to put all of that aside and spend your day making warm and fuzzy memories that will last your life times. My hope for you is that this Thanksgiving will be a warm and wonderful day with many more to come.
Blessings to all.
